• SIBLIN6S: a play reading

  • Presented by: VCA

A long time coming. This play was conceived in 2014, but only begun being formulated from 2019. It has been a more subconscious and esoteric writing experience. My year at VCA has been spent uncovering what this play is. I will be working on this through the next few years to really unlock it.

Very exciting to be able to work on it!

Blurb: After DAD has died, his six disparate children return over the years, and collide, connive, grieve, and celebrate with each other through loss, love and death. A surreal play about very different people coming from different places. A meditation on history, ageing and death.

Cast (6 people) / 4 men, 2 women.

C: I love him… Like a sun [she points upwards]
Like another day
I love him like a song
That I can always play.
But when the day is done, and song is through
What else in life is there now left to do?

The way an eye loves a word or finding a face– I love him.
The way a blue morning brightens the good – I love him.
The way I love… [she struggles] watching the garden grow…
But with him goes a sense of all I know…
My friend. My friend, my wonderful Eustace

I know you cannot be that anymore,
But like a word, a face or a song,
You are the things that I hold out for….

A: Where was this wellspring when Dad died?

C: I don’t know… It just came to me.
